Franklynn Pest Control is so thrilled to celebrate 50 Years of Service. Our favorite part of being part of the community is connecting with all of our customers. That’s why we want to share our story with you. So, who is Franklynn? We get a lot of questions about our name. Who is Franklynn and how did he get so good at pest and termite control? and Franklynn’s such a cool name. How did you think of it? Yes, these are real questions that everybody asks all the time!

In short, Franklynn isn’t a person. Franklynn represents the wonderful outcome that can occur when two very hard-working people pursue a dream. Joseph Frank Azzarello, Jr. and his wife Gloria Lynn began Franklynn Pest Control Co. (this was before DIAL ONE, but we’ll get to that soon) after graduating college. They both worked full time jobs, so they developed their pest control business during their spare time.

It was their passion for pest control and dedication to their community that inspired Joseph and Gloria to take the next step: Expansion.

The Business Starts to Grow

By 1971, Franklynn Pest Control, Co. grew large enough for Joseph to quit his full-time teaching position and fully commit himself to developing modern pest control techniques. By the next year, they hired their first full-time employee and relocated the business from their home to a commercial property large enough to accommodate the needs of their growing company.

But it wasn’t enough to be just good. Joseph Azzarello wanted to be the best. In 1976, Azzarello became the first and now one of the only Board-Certified Entomologists in the state of Louisiana working in the pest control industry.

Joining the DIAL ONE Network of Service Businesses

In order to better connect with their customers, Franklynn Pest Control became part of the DIAL ONE network of service businesses in 1985.

Why Does the Name Azzarello Sound Familiar?

Joseph and Gloria aren’t the only Azzarellos at Dial One Franklynn Pest Control, Co. Their son, Marcus Azzarello, joined the family business, in 1992, and has been helping people rid their homes and businesses of invasive critters ever since. Marcus works closely with customers to help diagnose pest problems and prescribe a customized treatment plan for every situation.

In addition to graduating from LSU with a degree in Landscape Architecture, Marcus learned about the management and care of trees by working in the landscaping industry. Marcus also worked in the real estate industry, giving him a greater understanding of how and where pests can thrive in different types of houses and building structures. In his spare time, Marcus maintains his own beehives. His experience preserving and nourishing his own bees makes Marcus one of Louisiana’s most prolific bee removal experts.
